School Rules & Student Handbook

1. Respect the national flag and national anthem, state flag and state anthem, school flag and school anthem;
2. Abide by national laws and school regulations of Poi Lam High School;
3. Take good care of public property and keep the environment clean and tidy;
4. Littering and spitting are prohibited;
5. For any assembly, students must line up to the venue quickly, keep quiet, and do not be late or leave early;
6. Don’t be late, don’t leave early, don’t apply for leave or skip classes randomly;
7. Take your studies seriously and do not cheat in exams or tests;
8. It is prohibited to bring prohibited books, pornographic publications or CDs to the school;
9. It is prohibited to carry or use various electronic devices;
10. Do not speak dialect or vulgar language;
11. Maintain the order in canteen, do not rush to be the first, and maintain the hygiene of canteen;
12. You are not allowed to enter teacher’s office without teacher’s permission;
13. Pass card can only be used by one student at a time;
14. During lesson time, pay attention to the class and do not disturb the order of class;
15. Do not run noisily during recess time or disrupt the school order;
16. Be respectful to your teachers, do not be rude to your seniors, and obey the instructions of your teachers and seniors;
17. During extracurricular activities, clothing must also be modest and neat;
18. Students are not allowed to buy food or drinks from the canteen during lesson times;
19. Do not wander around school compound during lesson times;
20. During lesson time, students are not allowed to eat, read newspapers, or engage in any behaviors that are not related to the class that not allowed by teacher;
21. Students should greet teachers and elders, and say hello when students meet their classmates and friends;
22. Do not steal or bully weaker students;
23. Behave modestly in school compound;
24. Appearance must be modest and neat, and attitude toward others must be sincere and courteous;
25. When students need to apply for wearing slippers in school, you must bring school shoes or parent letter/doctor’s certificate as proof;
26. When you need to apply for wearing a T-shirt, proceed as above, or borrow an old school uniform from the Discipline Office to change, it needs to be cleaned before returning;
27. In school compound, students are not allowed to wear coats outdoors except for physical discomfort or other special circumstances.

Other important requirements (absolutely adhere to them whether inside or outside school)

• No fighting, smoking, drug taking, gambling or drinking, etc.;
• It is prohibited to participate in illegal gang activities;
• Not involved in criminal cases;
• Do not engage in obscene behavior;
• Do not do anything that damages the reputation of the school;
• Should be willing and committed to serving the public;
• No assembly or group trip shall be held without the permission of the principal and the guidance of personnel;
• Do not bring items to school that are not related to lesson and prohibited by teachers or school authorities.
